I'll Stand with You

Dear Jonathan Issac, I am so proud of you. You did what no one else did. What no one else was brave enough to do. You looked at the consequences and you said “I’m gonna do it anyway.” On July 31, 2020, you stood during the national anthem. When everyone else knelt, you stood. When everyone else wore a BLM shirt, you wore your jersey. You didn’t follow the crowd. You didn’t follow the mob mentality. You stood for what you believe in. In today’s world, we are always having lies shoved down our throats. We are fed someone else’s agenda. And, if we don’t follow it, we are ridiculed and shunned. I read an article about you the other day that literally made me angry. But, I am incredibly proud of you for refusing to eat their lies and stuff your head with another’s beliefs. Whatever they say, you should know it will never matter. Their will always be haters, doubters, liars. But, I believe God is happy with your decision. And, if you are making Him happy, then it doesn’t matter one iota what those critics think. Not only did you stand for what you believe in, but you shared the Gospel, on a platform that thousands of people will see. You told them how they need Jesus. You told them how they’re sinners. And, You told them how to be saved. Even though you were nervous, even though you were the only man standing, you did what was right. You stood. I was saw all those people- players, staff, coaches- kneeling, all wearing BLM shirts or pins. I saw a crowd of people who let other people think for them. Who followed whoever was the most powerful. But, then I saw that brave man in his jersey. And, I was a bit shocked. My mom said, “When did it become unpatriotic to be patriotic?” Not only did you show patriotism, but you showed true loyalty to God. You didn’t back out. You turned to Him. You spoke His truth. I am still happily surprised when I think about it. Me and you, we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We were bought with the same blood. So I will stand with you. Even if my legs tremble from pain. Even if it’s 100 degrees with this Florida heat. Even if people ridicule us and call us radical. I will stand for God. I will stand with you. -Savanna L. C.
