The Tree that Carried the Weight of the World

The tree looks out at the sad, sad world. It shakes off the cheery, yellow birds and their songs. It stands in the rain, welcoming the lighting and the thunder. It’s trunk is bent and broken from carrying the weight of the world on it’s shoulders. It had once tried to be happy- it really had. But, life got in the way. I feel for you, sweet tree. I do. We could be friends, you and I. We can be sad together. We can stand in the rain, welcoming the lightning and the thunder. But, I will keep that cheery, yellow bird. I will teach you to be happy.
